SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis signed Daniella Dimitrova, a transfer from Baylor and the former No. 68-ranked International Tennis Federation World Junior Player to join the program for the 2024-25 season. Dimitrova will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Dimitrova posted a 14-19 singles and 6-14 doubles record during her two seasons with Baylor that included 24 appearances atop the doubles lineup. In singles, she won 13 matches during her freshman campaign tying her for the third most wins on the team.
"I had a few ideas as to where and what I expected from my next school. Santa Clara was above everything I was expecting," said Dimitrova. "Coaches Allie and Connor were very warm and helpful towards me from the very beginning. A Bulgarian girl (
Velizara Fileva) that I have known for almost a decade will be on the team which was very comforting. The campus is intimate and close knit, as there is a strong sense of community here which I am greatly looking forward to taking part in the fall! I believe that Santa Clara is the perfect fit, and I cannot wait to begin my journey here as a Bronco."
Ranked the number one player in Bulgaria in 2015, Dimitrova was invited to represent the Bulgarian National Team in the European Summer Cups in 2014 and 2015. She also qualified and competed at all four junior Grand Slams.
"We are proud to add Daniella to our Bronco Family," said Broncos head coach
Allie Will. "Her talent, discipline and leadership qualities will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals this season."
Dimitrova is the first signee in the 2024 recruiting class.
