BERKELEY, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis kicked off their fall campaign at the Cal Fall Invitational on Friday with eight players getting an opportunity to play in both doubles and singles matches.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Tian Yu Dong, a transfer from Saint Mary's, got the lone win on the day for Santa Clara, defeating San Jose State's Soledad Fayos Capilla in three sets 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in the opening round of the singles blue bracket. 
• The Broncos played in nine other singles and four doubles matches but were unable to pick up a win.  
• Freshman Anna Rahman nearly earned a win in her blue bracket round of 32 match against Sacramento State's Emilija Pranyte but fell in three sets.  

NEXT UP:

• The second day of Cal Fall Invitational continues on Saturday.
