DAVIS, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis freshman Luca Bluett captured the singles title at the Aggie Invitational on Sunday to cap off a stellar showing by the Broncos during the three day tournament. In total, Santa Clara picked up 16 singles and eight doubles victories.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Bluett won the white flight singles championship by defeating Cal Poly's Raz Haviv in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. The freshman from London, England won his fourth straight singles match over three days in his first collegiate tournament to earn the championship.
- Fellow freshman Mahir Khurana also played in the finals of the grey flight but his bid fell just short, falling to Cal Poly's Clayton Anderson in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
- The Broncos played four extra singles matches on Sunday, winning two of them - by Lukas Maskow and Payton Jim On.
- SCU also took two of the three extra doubles matches to add to their impressive win haul over the tournament.
