Women’s Tennis Signs State Champion Recruit from Hawai’i

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis announced the signing of Ashley Kurizaki, the 2024 Hawai'i State Champion, becoming the first singles winner from Moanalua High School in Honolulu.

The five-star recruit, according to Tennis Recruit Network, is a legacy recruit whose mother, Kristy Yamamoto, played at Santa Clara in the late 1990s.

"I chose to attend Santa Clara University because I enjoyed all the people that I met there and I knew I wanted to become a part of the Bronco family.  Go Broncos!," said Kurizaki.

In 2024, she was a finalist for the L1 USTA National Doubles Championship and was ranked No. 1 by the USTA for her section and No. 28 in the nation.

"We're thrilled to welcome Ashley to our Bronco Family," said SCU head coach Allie Will-Van Alstyne.  "With incredible variety in her game and a natural ability to elevate those around her,  Ashley is the perfect fit for our team environment.  We can't wait to see the passion, skill, and leadership she brings to our program. Go Broncos!"
