Watanabe Eriksson Enters ITA Singles Rankings at No. 104; Men’s Tennis Team at No. 67

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After victories over two nationally ranked opponents last weekend, Santa Clara men's tennis player Alexander Watanabe Eriksson has entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings, coming in at No. 104.
 
The Broncos are also ranked for the third straight week in the team rankings at No. 67, dropping seven spots. 
 
On Saturday, Santa Clara took on UC Santa Barbara on the road in a battle of nationally ranked teams.  Watanabe Eriksson defeated then No. 29 singles player Gianluca Brunkow 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 atop the singles lineup as the Broncos came up short 5-2 against the Gauchos who were ranked No. 67 at the time.
 
The following day, Watanabe Eriksson beat then No. 62 Azuma Visaya 6-1, 6-2 on court one to clinch Santa Clara's 4-1 victory over Hawai'i on the neutral courts of UCSB's Arnhold Tennis Center. 

The Stockholm, Sweden native is 12-9 overall in singles during the 2024-25 season and 7-5 this spring.  Six of those victories have come on court one as he is currently riding a three match win streak. 
 
This is the first time Watanabe Eriksson has been ranked nationally. 
 
The national rankings include the Men's and Women's Top 75 Team Rankings, Top 125 Singles Rankings, and Top 90 Doubles Rankings. 
 
This weekend, No. 67 Santa Clara plays in Albuquerque, New Mexico against Wichita State and New Mexico.
