SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis player Alexander Watanabe Eriksson has been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District Men's Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Eligible nominees must be in the lineup for 70 percent of an institution's days of competition (regional competition such as ITAs and non-team scored events do not count).
Watanabe Eriksson, an All-West Coast Conference Singles Honorable Mention selection this season, posted an 8-11 singles record including 2-1 against ranked opponents playing mostly atop the lineup. He defeated ranked players in back-to-back matches and was named WCC Singles Player of the Week when he took down No. 29 Gianluca Brunkow of UC Santa Barbara and No. 62 Azuma Visaya of Hawai'i. After the wins, Watanabe Eriksson entered the ITA singles rankings at No. 104.
In doubles, he was in the line up in 19 of the 22 matches playing at all lineup spots, going 5-11.
This is Watanabe Eriksson's first time being honored as an All-District selection.
