FRESNO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis fell 6-1 against Fresno State in the season opener at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center on Wednesday.  The Broncos made a return trip to Fresno after their originally scheduled match on Saturday was postponed due to fog and mist.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Fresno State (3-0) won the first two doubles matches to secure the doubles point and won five of the six singles matches including the first four to go up 5-0 before Daniella Dimitrova picked up the lone point for the Broncos.  
• The Bulldogs took the doubles matches on courts two and three both by a 6-4 score.  Sofia Pizzoni and Eliza Dunbar defeated Dimitrova and Madhu Satishbabu to clinch the doubles point.  
• In singles, Paulina Montiel, Andjela Lopicic and Klara Vukicevic each came up on top in straight sets to clinch the match.  Vukicevic's clincher came against Juliette Krumholz 6-3, 6-3 on court six to put the Bulldogs up 4-0 on the team scoreboard.  
• Santa Clara (0-1) got a point on Dimitrova's three set victory over Pizzoni 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) atop the lineup.
