SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis was picked to finish in third place in the West Coast Conference by the league's eight coaches. The Broncos received 37 points in the poll, behind San Diego's 48 and Pepperdine's 44. The Toreros collected six first place votes to the Waves' two.
The Broncos field an experienced team with eight of the nine roster players returning from last season which finished tied for second in the WCC alongside Pacific and Pepperdine with 5-2 league records. SCU was seeded No. 3 in the conference tournament advancing to the semifinals before falling to No. 2 seed Pepperdine.
A quartet of Santa Clara players who garnered All-WCC recognitions last season are all returning.
Luca Bluett and
John Kim were named doubles second team, Bluett also made singles honorable mention along with
Alexander Watanabe Eriksson and
Luca Lemaitre.
Santa Clara starts the spring season at UC Davis on Jan. 17 and plays their home opener the following day on Jan. 18 hosting San Diego State.
