Bluett & FaragCao Advance to the Doubles Semis at the ITA Regionals

SEATTLE – The Santa Clara men's tennis doubles team of Luca Bluett and Adam FaragCao took care of business in the quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Sunday to advance to the semifinals. The Broncos also had another doubles tandem as well as a pair of singles players in the quarterfinal rounds but were unable to move on.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Bluett and FaragCao defeated the No. 2 seed, Alexander Aney and Timofey Stepanov of Cal, 8-7 (7-4), and will next face Portland State's Maas Schotanus and Aarjun Pandit on Monday at noon PT in the semis.
Ferran Redza and Luca Lemaitre faced Nicholas Godsick and Hudson Rivera of Stanford in their quarterfinal match but fell, 8-4.
In singles, Redza took care of his round of 16 match up against Ivan Savkin from UC Davis 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 before falling to Gus Grumet of Stanford, 6-4, 6-2.
Lukas Maskow also had a three-set victory in his round of 16 battle against Stephane Kamendje of Washington 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Maskow came up short in the quarterfinals to Stanford's Ronit Karki 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2).
SCU played in seven extra singles matches with Bluett, Alex Bergomi and Tiago Boschmans coming through with wins.
