CARMEL, Calif. - No. 21 Santa Clara men's golf closed out the 2026 Preserve Golf Club Collegiate on Tuesday with a 2-under 286 final round at the par 72 Preserve Golf Club to finish the event tied for third at 14-under par. It was the team's fourth top-three finish out of their five total fall events. Upperclassmen
J.P. Odland and
Emil Nielsen both finished tied for fifth individually at 6-under 210.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Nielsen, ranked 15th in the latest Scoreboard Rankings, secured his fifth-straight top five finish by carding 3-under 69 in the final round. The Massachusetts product logged four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 No. 8 hole.
- Nielsen wrapped up the fall with an outstanding 68.73 strokes per round and finished top five in each event, including a victory at the Saint Mary's Invitational.
- Odland also shot 3-under for the day, shaking off back-to-back bogeys early in the day before rallying with five birdies, including three-straight to close the round.
- Odland, ranked 81st in the Scoreboard Rankings, tied Nielsen for fifth at 6-under 210, giving him his third top 10 finish of the season and the 14th of his career.
- Jared Abercrombie secured a top 15 finish after closing with a 2-over 74 final round to finish 4-under 212.
- Matt Robles also shot 2-over in the round to finish tied for 35th at 2-over 218.
- Max Margolis, playing as an individual, was 4-over 220 over 54 holes to tie for 43rd while Tucker Sweeney finished tied for 51st at 7-over par.
- Oregon edged out No. 33 BYU for the team title at 23-under 841 while Saint Mary's' Sam Baumuller cruised to a five-stroke victory at 14-under 202.
- Through five events, Santa Clara is currently on pace to break the program's single season scoring average with a phenomenal 281.33 strokes per round.
