Men’s Tennis Ranked No. 40 Nationally, Highest Since 2013

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the first team rankings for the 2026 spring season on Thursday with Santa Clara men's tennis coming in at No. 40 nationally, the highest ranking since 2013 when they were No. 37.  The doubles team of Luca Bluett and John Kim remained in the top-20 for the second straight rankings, at No. 19.

The Broncos are among six West Coast Conference schools ranked, behind No. 9 San Diego and No. 13 Pepperdine but ahead of No. 43 LMU, No. 56 Gonzaga, and No. 75 Pacific.

Santa Clara (7-2) currently is on a three-match win streak including a 3-all clincher by Kim against Washington last weekend.  Washington is No. 66 in the latest rankings.  It was the second 3-all clinching win against a Big Ten opponent this spring, having defeated Oregon, 4-3, courtesy of Ferran Redza's clincher on Feb. 1.  Redza earned  WCC Freshman of the Week recognition.

Bluett and Kim are 4-1 for the dual match season.  They entered the doubles rankings at No. 17 two weeks ago after beating a pair of top-12 nationally ranked doubles teams and playing at the NCAA Individual Championships last fall, becoming the first Bronco men's players to qualify for the NCAAs.

In January at the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament in Starkville, Mississippi, Bluett and Kim beat then-No. 2 Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez from Mississippi State and downed then-No.12 Jacob Olar and Andrii Zimnokh from Alabama.  For their efforts, the West Coast Conference recognized Bluett and Kim with the league Doubles Team of the Week honors.

The national rankings include the Men's and Women's Top 75 Team Rankings, Top 125 Singles Rankings, and Top 90 Doubles Rankings.

The Broncos next play on Saturday hosting New Mexico at 11 a.m. PT inside the Degheri Tennis Center.
