SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Bella Pitchford outlasted Ashley Katz to give UC Irvine a 3-all clinching win over Santa Clara women's tennis for their first win of the season on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Playing on court five, Pitchford defeated Katz 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-5 to complete UC Irvine's 4-3 comeback victory after being down 3-1.  
• On the strength of three consecutive singles victories by Daniella Dimitrova, Lizanne Boyer and Anna Rahman, Santa Clara (1-3) was one point shy of securing the team win.  However,  Maily Huynh came back from a set down to beat Juliette Krumholz 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 on court six to cut into the Broncos lead, 3-2.  
• Carolyna Fowler knotted the team score at 3-all, winning her match 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 over Tian Yu Dong on court three.  
• Dimitrova and Boyer each won their doubles and singles matches for the Broncos.  They teamed up at doubles No. 2 over Haily Huynh and Yen Nhi Huynh 6-3 but the Broncos were unable to secure the doubles point.
