Men's Tennis Features Three Rankings

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's tennis doubles team of Tiago Boschmans and Luca Lemaitre entered Tuesday's latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings at No. 57 joining teammates Luca Bluett and John Kim who are at No. 50 in doubles and the Broncos at No. 39 in the team rankings.

Boschmans and Lemaitre are 8-1 on the season that includes a seven-match win streak playing at the No. 2 spot in the doubles lineup.  Last Saturday, they defeated Stewart Aronson and Filip Soderqvist 6-3 to secure the team doubles point against No. 61 Boise State in the battle of the nationally ranked Broncos which Santa Clara prevailed 4-1 to improve to 11-2 on the season.

Even with the win against a nationally ranked opponent, Santa Clara men's tennis dropped one spot in the rankings to No. 39 after holding steady at No. 38 in the last two rankings.  This season, they have wins against three Power 4 schools - Alabama, Oregon and Washington - as well as against two ranked opponents in No. 74 UNLV and No. 61 Boise State.

Bluett and Kim are ranked for the fourth straight time, coming in at No. 50 this week.  The Bronco tandem reached a high of No. 17 earlier in the season.  They are 5-2 with two of those wins against top-12 opponents, beating No. 2 Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez from Mississippi State and No.12 Jacob Olar and Andrii Zimnokh from Alabama.

This Saturday, Santa Clara will take on Dartmouth at home as head coach Niall Angus, who is in his 10th year at the helm, will look to reach a career milestone to tie Sean Burns for the most wins in program history with 130 career victories.  First serve is at 11 a.m. PT at the Degheri Tennis Center where admission is free.
