SAN FRANCISCO — Sydney Lim and Milaina Almonte each claimed event victories and the Santa Clara University women's track team stacked multiple top finishes Friday as it opened its 2026 outdoor season at the Golden Gate Track Fest at San Francisco State's Cox Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lim led a dominant showing for the Broncos in the 3,000 meters, crossing the line first in a personal-best 9 minutes, 58.76 seconds. Teammate Olivia Schlieman followed in second place with a time of 10:03.02, and Julia Russo added a fifth-place finish in 10:15.99 as Santa Clara placed three runners inside the top five.
   
• Almonte delivered another win for the Broncos in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, PR'ing by more than 1:40 with a time of 10:59.36 to take the title. Sarah Guralnick completed a Santa Clara sweep of the top two spots in the race, finishing second in 11:22.62.
   
• Santa Clara also placed three runners inside the top seven in the 800 meters. Mia Mendez led the group with a fourth-place finish in 2:19.95, followed by Grace Winkler in fifth (2:20.64) and Heidi Green in seventh (2:21.33).
   
• In the 1,500 meters, Sigrid Brakenhielm paced the Broncos with a fifth-place finish in 4:47.57. Kiera Kime placed sixth in 4:47.97 and Aliyah Yearian followed in eighth with a time of 4:48.42. Mariah Aragon added an 18th-place finish in 4:55.48.
