AZUSA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's track team recorded an all-time mark and competed across multiple sections in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational, held Thursday through Saturday at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Athletic Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sydney Lim led the Broncos in the 1,500 meters, running 4:30.15 to place 12th overall in the Open B section and record the sixth-fastest time in Santa Clara program history. Lim also won her heat, while Kiera Kime ran 4:39.95 to place second in her heat in the same section. Milaina Almonte paced Santa Clara in the Open A race with a 57th-place finish in 4:29.52, and Sigrid Brakenhielm added a 4:46.87 performance.
- Julia Russo and Ramneek Kaur competed in the Open C section, finishing 49th and 83rd with times of 4:46.00 and 4:50.72, respectively.
- Santa Clara also turned in a group effort in the 5,000 meters, led by Olivia Schlieman's 17:11.78 in the Open B section. Sarah Guralnick followed in 17:41.10, while Josie Cahill (17:44.88) and Kaylee Volner (17:52.07) competed in the Open C race.
- In the 800 meters, Heidi Green ran 2:17.20 in the Open B section.
