SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis senior
Daniella Dimitrova was named All-West Coast Conference singles second team, the league office announced on Tuesday ahead of the start of the WCC Tournament.
The all-conference voting and major awards were voted on by the 10 conference head coaches.
Dimitrova played atop the singles lineup in all 22 matches this spring and finished with a team best 13-6 record including 5-2 in conference action to help lead the Broncos earn a spot in the WCC Tournament for the first time since 2017-18. Three of her wins were match clinchers against CSUN (Feb. 26), UC San Diego (March 24) and Pacific (April 13).
In her last 10 matches, she went 7-1 including winning six straight.
This is the second time Dimitrova was recognized for all-conference honors after being named singles honorable mention last year.
The last Broncos to be named All-WCC singles second team was back in 2018 with Madison Clarke and Maddie Pothoff. Pothoff earned first team honors the following season.
Dimitrova and the sixth-seed Broncos next plays third-seed Washington State in the opening round of the WCC Tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT.
