AZUSA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's track team added five all-time top-10 marks Friday and Saturday at the Franson Last Chance Meet at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Athletic Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Milaina Almonte turned in the Broncos' top overall finish of the meet, placing second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:23.35. The mark ranks No. 2 all-time in Santa Clara history and came just 0.13 seconds shy of the school record. She ranks No. 42 in the West Region, inside the top-48 for a qualifying spot at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships West Region Preliminary Meet.
- Santa Clara also put together a strong showing in the 5,000 meters, led by Sydney Lim's seventh-place finish in 16:49.33. Lim won her heat and moved to No. 5 on the Broncos' all-time list. Olivia Schlieman followed in 14th overall with a time of 17:03.46, the ninth-fastest mark in program history. Kaylee Volner (31st), Aliyah Yearian (36th), Sophie Smithstanza (42nd) and Isabella Gonzalez (45th) also competed in the event.
- In the 800 meters, Sigrid Brakenhielm and Kiera Kime ran side-by-side near the top of their section and both moved into Santa Clara's all-time top 10. Brakenhielm won the heat in 2:14.11, the seventh-fastest time in program history, while Kime finished second in the same heat in 2:14.27, good for eighth all-time.
- Kime also led the Broncos in the 1,500 meters, placing 29th overall in 4:37.93. Julia Russo followed in 43rd (4:44.86), with Ramneek Kaur placing 57th in 4:53.40. Mariah Aragon, Celia Steiger and Rachel Cormier also raced for Santa Clara in the event.

- The Broncos will compete in their final regular season meet on Saturday at the West Coast Last Chance Meet, hosted by San Francisco State.
