SAN FRANCISCO — The Santa Clara University women's track team closed its regular season Saturday with two all-time 3,000-meter marks and a pair of event wins Saturday at the West Coast Last Chance Meet at San Francisco State's Cox Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sydney Lim won the 3,000 meters in 9:41.90, the second-fastest time in Santa Clara history. Olivia Schlieman followed in second place with a time of 9:48.23, moving to No. 5 all-time in program history as the Broncos took the top-two spots in the event.
- Milaina Almonte added another event win for Santa Clara in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running 10:27.27 to lead the field. Ramneek Kaur placed third in the event with a time of 11:25.85.
- In the 1,500 meters, Sigrid Brakenhielm led the Broncos with a 10th-place finish in 4:44.64. Aaliyah Yearian followed in 11th with a time of 4:45.37, while Celia Steiger placed 19th in 4:58.77. Mariah Aragon finished 23rd in 5:03.56, and Rachelle Cormier placed 25th in 5:13.17.

- Santa Clara now waits to see if any of its student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships West Region Preliminary Meet. Announcements are made on Thursday.
