Men’s Tennis Headed to Tucson Regional for 2027 ITA Kickoff Weekend

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Santa Clara men's tennis program will play in the International Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend for the third straight season and eighth overall as Broncos head coach Niall Angus chose the Tucson Region during Thursday's draft.

The draft gives the coaches the opportunity to choose where their team plays at the 19th annual ITA Kickoff Weekend with factors such as travel and opponents under consideration.

The Kickoff Weekend takes place Jan. 22-24, 2027 at 14 sites across the country.  The host sites were determined based on 2026 year-end rankings with the remaining schools selecting where they play based on their year-end finish starting with the 15th ranked team and running until all the spots were filled in the draw.

This year's host sites on the men's side include in order of the final 2026 rankings: Virginia, Texas, Wake Forest, TCU, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Arizona, LSU, Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas A&M, Georgia, Central Florida and Illinois.

With four teams per site, a total of 56 teams comprise the ITA Kickoff Weekend draw.

Santa Clara finished No. 38 nationally this season, the second highest in program history, and Angus selected the Tucson, Arizona region in the draft where they are in the same group as host, No. 7 Arizona along with No. 35 California and No. 53 Utah State.

The 2027 ITA Kickoff Weekend provides a chance to qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.  The 16-team championship draw will be comprised of the host schools Clemson and South Carolina plus winners from each of the 14 ITA Kickoff Weekend sites.
