SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis announced the signing of Alexandra O'Brien, a graduate transfer from Duquesne University.
O'Brien will have one season of eligibility at Santa Clara after playing three seasons across UMass and Duquesne. She was a CSC Academic All-District® Team honoree in 2025 and 2026 and an ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2025.
"I chose Santa Clara because it immediately felt like home with a coaching staff that truly supports me," said O'Brien. "Santa Clara offers me the opportunity to compete in tennis at the highest level while at the same time offering academic excellence."
The Boca Raton, Florida native finished the 2025-26 season tied for the team lead with 10 doubles wins during the spring, all coming on court two.
As a sophomore in 2024-25, O'Brien primarily played doubles at No. 2 and 3 and in singles played mostly at the No. 3, 4, and 5 slots.
O'Brien played her freshman year at UMass after training at the Evert Tennis Academy.
"I am excited to welcome Alexandra to our program," said Broncos head coach
Allie Will-Van Alstyne. "She brings incredible energy, enthusiasm, and a mindset centered on daily growth and improvement. We are thrilled to have her join our team and look forward to a great season together."
