SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara head men's tennis coach Niall Angus signed a four-year contract extension to continue leading the Broncos through the 2030 season. 

"I'm incredibly grateful to Santa Clara University, Director of Athletics Heather Owen, Senior Associate Athletics Director of Business, Finance & Administration Jaclyn Alongi-Lee, and the entire administration for their continued support and belief in our program, said Angus.  "I'm proud of what we've accomplished together and the culture we've built within Santa Clara men's tennis.  This extension is an exciting opportunity to continue that progress, build on the success we've already had, and keep pushing our program to new levels.  Our goal is to compete for championships, develop outstanding young men, and make our university and alumni proud.  I'm thankful for the opportunity and excited for everything that lies ahead."

Last season Angus led Santa Clara to a NCAA Team Championship berth for only the second time in program history after capturing the first-ever West Coast Conference Co-Championship in the regular season.   He was recognized as the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year and ITA/Dunlap Coach of the Year for the Northwest Region.

Angus became the program's winningest coach last spring, surpassing Sean Burns' mark of 130 career wins. 

In the various final ITA rankings for the 2026 campaign, Santa Clara set or was close to setting program bests.  In the national rankings, they had the second-best finish ever at No. 38.  And in the mid-major team rankings, they came in at a program best No. 7 and tied a program high No. 3 in the regional team rankings.

In his 10 seasons at the helm, Angus has compiled a 138-85 career record including a winning record in nine of those campaigns and finished the season ranked nationally in four seasons and regionally in nine seasons with the exception of the 2019-20 Covid year.  

Under his tutelage, 22 players have been named All-WCC singles, 15 teams have garnered All-WCC doubles honors and 27 have earned conference All-Academic recognitions.
