DAVIS, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis players Tiago Boschmans and Alex Bergomi won their opening round matches in the singles blue flight on the first day of the Aggie Invite on Friday. The three-day tournament will continue on Saturday with Boschmans and Bergomi playing in the quarterfinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Playing in the round of 16, Boschmans defeated Nevada's Axel Huysmans in three sets 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.
- Bergomi also took care of his match in the same round, beating Jacopo Antonelli of Sacramento State 6-4, 6-2. It was the freshman's first victory.
- Mahir Khurana played in the white flight and lost his round of 16 match against Bastien Maxant of Saint Mary's 7-5, 6-3.
- In doubles, Bergomi and Khurana teamed up but fell 8-3 to host, UC Davis' tandem of Aiden Mueller and Ivan Savkin in the first round.
