ORANGE, Calif. - Five different Broncos turned in multi-goal games to help No. 17 Santa Clara men's water polo handle business against Chapman with a 20-8 victory Friday evening at the Allred Aquatics Center.
After a slow start in the first period, Santa Clara (8-4) tacked on five goals in the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead into the half. The goals kept flowing in the second half with seven more in the third period and six in the fourth. Junior
Riccardo De Simon led the charge with four goals while
Jason Alietti and
Ashton Brown both tied their career highs of three goals.
Darion Wang and
Weston Bancroft each logged a pair of goals to also tie their respective career bests. Freshman
Marco Rizoff led the way in assists with four on the evening while
Harrison Labrosse and
Connor Clougherty split time in the goal, finishing with seven and five saves, respectively.
The Broncos will ride a two-game win streak into tomorrow's trip to Irvine to take part in the UC Irvine mini-tournament. SCU will faced No. 18 Navy at 9:00 a.m. before taking on host-No. 8 UC Irvine at 3:00 p.m.
