John McCord

John McCord, a former professional golfer with five career victories on developmental tours, was named men's golf assistant coach in December 2023, and is entering his third season with the program in 2025-26.

He joined Santa Clara after his most recent stint as a club fitting specialist at Parsons Xtreme Golf in San Jose. Prior to that and his professional career, he served as an assistant golf coach at his alma mater, the University of Redlands in 2016-17, and was an assistant golf pro at Claremont Golf Club in 2017-18.

McCord, who graduated from Redlands in 2016, was a prolific collegiate golfer as a three-time PING All-America selection and the 2013 Phil Mickelson Award recipient. He served as team captain as a senior in 2016 and was the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champion. McCord holds the program record for both lowest 18-hole score (64) and lowest round to par (65).

As a professional golfer, McCord was a 2023 Mid-Amateur Match Play qualifier and ranks as one of the top 100 amateurs in California.
