WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "Gold" Honors (2024-25)

AT SANTA CLARA: Joined the Broncos in 2025 ... Holds a 14-20 record at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the lineup.

AS A FRESHMAN (2025): Played in 34-of-36 matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots ... Compiled a 14-20 record including a 3-2 mark in WCC play ... Finished the season at the No. 2 spot holding a 14-9 record there ... Had a 3-3 record at the WCC Championship with her partner Sadie Snipes helping lead the Broncos to a runner-up finish in the conference ... Went 3-1 at the West Coast Challenge helping lead the Broncos to the Silver Bracket Championship.

HIGH SCHOOL: Sammy Wood, from Huntington Beach, Calif., joins the Broncos as a four year varsity letter winner in both indoor and beach volleyball at Edison High School. Indoor, she was Edison’s Varsity Defensive MVP and All-Sunset League honorable mention her senior year. On the beach, she and her partner were 2024 Sunset League Pairs Champions, League MVPs, and Edison High School Hall of Fame inductees.

She trained and competed with Spiker Beach Volleyball Club under Jake Gibb and Marty Suan. Club success included three BVCA National Open podium finishes (2022-2024), 16U West Coast JO’s 2nd-place finish (2022), and 18U Cal Cup podium finishes (2023, 2024). Sammy also represented Team USA in the 2023 ISF 18U World Championship and is CBVA AAA rated.

GET TO KNOW SAMMY: Sammy is a member of the Leavey School of business, and hobbies include snowboarding and mountain biking. Daughter of Jim and Phuong and sister to Alex. Alex plays for the women’s soccer team at Wake Forest University.
