Erin Chastain begins her fifth season as one of Santa Clara'sassistant coaches. Chastain joined the Broncos on the missioncampus in June 2002. Chastain spent three seasons as NorthwesternUniversity's top assistant prior to joining the Broncos. A nativeof Plymouth, Minn., Chastain was a four-year starter at theUniversity of Minnesota. The three-year captain played in all ofthe Gophers' 82 matches during her career, and ranked fourth on theschool's all-time points list, fifth in goals scored, and tied forthird in assists. Chastain earned All-Big Ten honors in 1995(second team) and '96 (first team), and was named to the NSCAAGreat Lakes Region All-America Third Team in '96. In addition, shewas a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection from 1994-96, andearned District Academic All-America honors in '96.

Chastain graduated from Minnesota with a bachelor's degree inSpanish and International Business. After graduation, Chastainspent time as the head coach of the Wayzata and Edina (Minn.) U-15Girls' Premier soccer teams, and worked as an assistant accountexecutive for the advertising firm Fallon McElligott inMinneapolis. While at Northwestern, she also served as the headcoach of the Glenview U-15 Girl's Soccer Club. She had also spenttime during her first three seasons working with several youthteams in the Bay Area, including the DeAnza Strykers and the NorthValley Tornadoes. Chastain and husband Chad were married on August7, 2005 at the Mission Church. The couple resides in San Jose.
