Gisele Guirand-Griffin, "GG", is in her first year as an Assistant Director, Sports Medicine. She works with the men’s and women's water polo programs.
Prior to joining Santa Clara, GG had multiple roles in the field as a head athletic trainer for Westmont HS in Campbell, Calif., for three years, and an athletic trainer for NBA Officials since 2022 where she travels between Chase Center and Golden 1 Center for seasonal and summer league games.
Griffin earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Athletic Training from Cal State East Bay. She went on to earn her master’s in athletic training at the University of the Pacific in 2022 and will earn her Doctorate in Athletic Training from Temple University in 2026.
GG worked with MLB, NFL, and NBA teams and athletes as a sports massage therapist since 2000. She worked as a team manual therapist with the Oakland Raiders from 2014 until they moved to Las Vegas.
She is a native of Boston before moving to California where her family resided in Palo Alto. She has two Sons and a "grand-dog": Jordan a graduate of of the University of Colorado and currently in-flight school in Denver; Mia, Jordan's Pitbull; and Chauncey, currently at Silicon Valley
University finishing his Bachelor of Science in Game Design Art. She continues to compete in the throw events (javelin, shot put, discus, and weight throws) for USATF Masters. She resides in San Jose with her youngest son and Jeep, "Xena."
