Katelyn Zweigle-Collins is in her third year as the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine, serving as the primary medical contact for baseball.
Previously, she worked at UC San Francisco (2020-22) in the Orthopedics - Orthotics and Prosthetics Department, specializing in pediatric orthotics in a multidisciplinary hospital setting. She holds certifications as an Orthotic Fitter and Orthotic Assistant under the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
Before UCSF, Zweigle-Collins was in a one-year orthopedic and diagnostic imaging residency at Boston University (2019-20), working primarily with women’s ice hockey, along with other varsity sports, club sports, and ROTC. She also assisted in the Sports Medicine Clinic, collaborating with physicians and fellows.
From 2017-19, she pursued her Doctorate in Athletic Training at Indiana State University, providing primary medical care for baseball and secondary medical care for cheer and dance. She served as a preceptor for athletic training students and guest lectured in the Master of Athletic Training program. Her doctoral research, The Workplace Experiences of Athletic Trainers in the Professional Sports Setting, was published in The Sports Journal.
Earlier in her career, Zweigle-Collins worked in minor league baseball with the San Francisco Giants (2015-16), interning with the Sacramento River Cats (AAA) in 2015 and worked as the assistant athletic trainer with the Arizona Rookie League in 2016. She also gained experience as an athletic trainer in secondary and junior college settings during off-seasons.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from Sacramento State and a Doctorate in Athletic Training from Indiana State. Her certifications include Certified Athletic Trainer (BOC), Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM), Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM), Graston Technique, First Aid/CPR/AED, and Orthotic Fitter/Assistant (ABCOP).
A Bay Area native, Katelyn enjoys Lagree, golf, volleyball, snowboarding, and quality time with family and friends. She and her husband, Christopher, are excited to welcome their first child in May 2025. Penny, their cat, is excited to become a big sister.
