MONTEREY, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's water polo team responded from a loss to host Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday morning to beat Fresno Pacific 10-4. The Broncos split the two games in Monterey and will now prepare to play at UC San Diego's Triton Invitational next weekend, Feb. 11-12.
True freshman
Ashleigh Bandimere (pictured) scored a season-high five goals against Fresno Pacific to lead the Broncos to their second win of the year. Bandimere allowed Santa Clara to jump to out to leads of 5-3 and 9-4.
"We came out a lot stronger on defense in our second game," said Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur. "
Sarah Safir set the tone for us at two-meter D. Ashleigh had a great game shooting the ball. We will try to build off that win and hopefully that will give us momentum heading to San Diego."
