SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's water polo team got off to a slow start in both its games Sunday at the 2013 Triton Invitational and ended up losing to No. 17 Hartwick 11-4 and later in the day to Marist 8-7. 

The Broncos (3-8; 1-3 WWPA) played No. 7 SDSU tough in Saturday's tournament opener, and also held its own against No. 11 Michigan, but could not keep that momentum going as the weekend went forward. SCU went scoreless in the first period of both of its games Sunday. 

Julia Peters (San Jose, Calif. / Presentation) scored three goals during Sunday's two games as did Jenny Anderson (Palo Alto, Calif. / Gunn). 

Southern California product Claire Eadington (Corona Del Mar / Corona Del Mar) - the 2011 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Newcomer of the Year - was terrific for Santa Clara on Sarturday, scoring seven goals in the Broncos' two games. SCU has a number of San Diego-area players on its 2013 roster, who played in front of family and friends on the UCSD campus at the event.
