Women's Water Polo Drops a Pair to Top 10 Programs on Final Day at Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Santa Clara women's water polo fell in its final two games of the eight-team Wolverine Invitational, which featured four of the top nine teams in the country

Stephanie Contreras scored a game-high four goals to lead No. 5-ranked Arizona State (12-3) to a 14-2 victory over the Broncos on Sunday morning.

Annie Eldredge and Hailey Eberle potted the goals for Santa Clara (4-13).

In the afternoon session, Danielle Johnson (five) and Kim Johnson (three) combined for eight goals to lead host and seventh-ranked Michigan to 17-9 victory in the final game of the two-day tournament.

Hannah Buck, Mara Dominguez and Maggie Oys each tallied two goals for the Broncos who scored on 5 of 11 chances with the extra attacker.

The Wolverines (13-8) scored on 17 of their 27 shot attempts.

The Broncos play one more away from home before returning to Sullivan Aquatic Center for four contests, including three Golden Coast Conference games. Santa Clara plays at Cal State East Bay on Saturday then entertains Harvard on Saturday, March 18 at 1 p.m.
