Women's Tennis Downs Southeastern Louisiana

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Maddie Pothoff and Elvena Gevargiz won in both singles and doubles to lead Santa Clara women's tennis to a dominating 4-0 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday.

After winning the doubles point, the Broncos cruised in singles.

At No. 2 singles, Gevargiz defeated Vicky Scholz 6-2, 6-4 and Nadine Del Carmen knocked off Katya Cornejo 6-3, 6-2 on court 6 for a commanding 3-0 lead.

Pothoff also won in straight sets. Clinching the match with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Putri Insani.

Santa Clara, which snapped a three-match skid, claimed the doubles point in convincing fashion. After Katya Tabachnik and Caitlyn Frankel won 6-1 over Flory Bierman and Katya Cornejo on court 2, Pothoff and Gevargiz claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Insani and Ximena Yanez.
