SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Trystyn Vuori (five) and Emily Nicholson (four) combined to tally nine goals and Fresno State pulled away from Santa Clara women's water polo with a five-goal outburst in the second quarter to earn a 15-8 victory on Sunday.

Emily Diacono scored twice and Claire Schade added a goal and two assists for the Bulldogs (11-14, 3-3) who moved into a tie for fourth in the Golden Coast Conference standings.

Playing in their final home game, Hannah Buck and Annie Eldredge each posted two goals for the Broncos (8-15, 1-5) who out-shot Fresno State 31 to 29, but were not nearly as efficient.

Vuori and Nicholson needed just six shots apiece to compile their goal totals and Fresno State converted three of their five attempts with the extra attacker.

Leading 4-2 early in the second quarter, the Bulldogs scored four goals in just more than a 2-minute span, capped by Diacono's strike with 2:01 left before halftime.

Buck's 5-meter goal midway through the third drew the Broncos within 8-4, but the Bulldogs scored three times in a 2-minute span covering the end of that period and the fourth. Nicholson started that rally with her fourth goal of the game.

Mackenzie Richards, who had nine saves, secured the win in net for Fresno State. Grace Kavanagh suffered the loss for the Broncos.

Gabi Sicat had one goal and a career-high three assists for Santa Clara.
