No. 11 Women's Soccer Cruises to 4-0 Win Over Pacific

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer took care of Pacific 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Stevens Stadium to remain undefeated on the season.

The 11th ranked Broncos (5-0, 5-0 WCC) were in control most of the way, outshooting the Tigers (0-7-2, 0-5-1 WCC) 17-3 while putting nine shots on goal without allowing Pacific to get one on target.

The offensive star of the day was Kaile Halvorsen who made her first start of the year. The junior scored the first two goals of the game in the 12th and 15th minutes to get the Santa Clara offense rolling.

Kelsey Turnbow added the third goal, giving her a team-high six and at least one in every match this year, in the 36th and Keren Goor scored her first collegiate goal to round out the offense in the 64th.

Eden White added a pair of assists with Sally Menti, Rachel Bastone, Ellie Glenn, and Marika Guay also picking up assists to give the Broncos six on the day.

The time in net was split between Marlee Nicolos who started, Kylie Foutch, and Felicity Baker.

In all, a total of 19 Broncos saw action, a season-high, with Bastone, Foutch, Baker, Riley Burrill, and Vanessa Mejia all making their season debuts. It was the collegiate debuts for Bastone, Foutch, and Baker as well.

"I'm really happy that so many players got to get into the game and make their debuts today," Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith said. "Not only did a lot of players see time, they played really well."

Pacific never put together a dangerous chance but did control the ball for portions of the match.

Brenna Crump picked up five saves.

NOTES

  • Santa Clara is now 14-0 all-time against Pacific.
  • Kelsey Turnbow is still one assist away from becoming the eighth Bronco with 25 goals and 25 assists in her career. She has 41 goals and 24 assists. Turnbow will become the first Bronco to reach the milestone since Leslie Osborne in 2003.
