Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. – An early goal and a frustrating night on offense led to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of San Francisco for No. 13 women's soccer. The Dons found the back of the net in the first 10 minutes and withstood a barrage of chances from the Broncos to escape with the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the ninth minute, a ball came down to Ellie Weissenberg who passed to Marissa Vasquez just inside the top of the 18-yard box and her shot snuck in far post.
• Santa Clara (10-3-2, 3-1 WCC) had two golden opportunities inside the six-yard box late in the match from Lucy Mitchell and Mailin Orozco but both went just wide of the left post.
• The Broncos had another great chance in the 42nd but Karly Reeves' shot hit the crossbar.

 
NOTABLE NUMBERS:

• Santa Clara finished the night with 24 shots while San Francisco (5-6-3, 2-1-1 WCC) had just five. The Broncos also put eight on goal with the Dons putting thee on frame. Santa Clara also had the edge 5-0 in corner kicks.
• Marlee Nicolos made two saves, including one in the 65th when Vasquez had a one-on-one opportunity that kept the Broncos within reach.
• Kira Ybarra had a tremendous match in net, making eight saves.

• Santa Clara stays home to face LMU Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. Nine Bronco seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony. A halftime ceremony will also honor Julie Ertz who will be in attendance.
