SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. –
Adem Hamdaoua scored a goal and collected two assists for the Santa Clara men's soccer team in the 3-1 West Coast Conference opening win over Saint Mary's to earn University Credit Union WCC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
In Saturday's contest, the Broncos fell behind early but Hamdaoua leveled the match at 1-all in the 40
th minute on a set piece goal from 25 yards out.
Hamdaoua's first assist came in the final minute before intermission when he and
Will Wiersdorf linked up on a pass that led to
Jack Civitts' go-ahead goal with 37 seconds left on the clock.
In the 60
th minute, the Marrakesh, Morocco native's shot was destined for the upper right corner before it was saved by the diving Saint Mary's goalkeeper but
Tyrone Kirunda pounced on the rebound to give the Broncos a 3-1 cushion.
It is the first such honor for Hamdaoua. The last Broncos to earn conference player of the week honors was
Jack Stoecker back on November 15, 2021.
The Broncos next play Portland at home on Friday.
