Need To Know For 2023-24

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball is looking to make it two-straight wins to open the season. They will host Saint Francis on Saturday in a 4 p.m. tip inside the Leavey Center. The game will serve as a bookend to a doubleheader with the women's basketball team (vs. Hawai'i at 1 p.m.).

The Broncos opened the year with a solid 77-69 victory on opening night against Utah Tech. Five players reached double figure scoring led by Carlos Marshall, Jr., who scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting for his highest point total as a Bronco. Arizona transfer Adama-Alpha Bal was equally impressive in his Santa Clara debut, finishing with career highs for points (17), rebounds (6) and assists (3). Virginia grad transfer Francisco Caffaro (13 points, 8 rebounds) flirted with his second career double-double while fellow transfers Tyeree Bryan (Charleston Southern) and Jalen Benjamin (Mount St. Mary's) finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Saint Francis Red Flash is looking for their first win of 2023-24 after an 0-2 start with road losses against UCLA (74-55) and San Francisco (84-52). Cam Gregory and Gestin Liberis are the team's leading scorers at 8.5 points per game. The Red Flash was 13-17 last season and are under the direction of 12th-year head coach Rob Krimmel.

Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between the programs.
