WCC Release
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – For the fifth time this season, a Santa Clara men's soccer player garnered a weekly West Coast Conference recognition, as
Joshua Dabora was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week.
Dabora scored the WCC Championship clinching goal in the 88
th minute against Pacific last Saturday to help Santa Clara defeat the Tigers 2-1 and secure a share of the league title with San Diego.
The 6-foot-4 forward was honored pregame at the Senior Night ceremony and closed out the evening with a bang with his late game heroics.
On the play, the pass was headed out of bounds over the end line but Dabora back-heeled the shot from an impossible angle between the legs of the goalkeeper and spun in it for the goal.
"I just did a 'flick-n-trick' and I have it in my bag and I saw the goalkeeper come off his line and I knew it was going in," said Dabora after the game.
It is the first such honor for Dabora. In total, the Broncos have earned five WCC Players of the Week awards this season with
Adem Hamdaoua and
Jack Stoecker earning two accolades each.
