Need To Know For 2023-24

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball is 4-0 to open the season for the second time in the last three seasons (2021-22) and is set to host Mississippi Valley State (0-4) for a Monday night bout prior to heading east for the Emerald Coast Classic where they will face Oregon and Alabama/Ohio State.

The Broncos held on for a scrappy 65-63 win over Southeastern Louisiana in their last outing. Sophomore Center Christoph Tilly had the best game of his young career with a career-best 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including the game-winning basket inside the final minute of play. Tilly also had career-highs with five assists and four steals to go with six rebounds.

Monday's game will be the fourth-ever meeting between Santa Clara and Mississippi Valley State. SCU is 3-0 in the previous installments with their most recent victory coming on Dec. 20, 2019 (100-71).

The Delta Devils are looking for their first win of the season after losses to LSU, Oklahoma, UCONN and TCU. Mississippi Valley State is led by second-year head coach George Ivory. Senior guard Rayquon Brown leads the team in both scoring (16.5) and rebounding (5.5).
