SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball heads to neutral ground for a two-game stay this weekend. The Broncos will take on the Oregon Ducks on Friday and either Alabama or Ohio State in Niceville, Fla. at the Emerald Coast Classic.
Game time against the Ducks is set for 6:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. The winner of that game will play the winner of Alabama/Ohio State in the Emerald Coast Classic Championship Game on Saturday. The losers will face each other in the consolation game, also on Saturday.
Santa Clara is the last remaining undefeated team in the WCC with a 5-0 record. They are taking on a fellow undefeated squad in the Ducks, who boast wins over Georgia, Montana, Tennessee State and Florida A&M.
The Broncos are 7-8 against Oregon all-time, but the Ducks have won the last three meetings dating back to 1998. The last Santa Clara win in the series came on Nov. 29, 1997 - a 67-58 final in Eugene.
The Broncos have fared well against Pac 12 opponents as a whole with a 7-9 record against the conference under Herb Sendek, including two-straight wins in the last two seasons. The most recent of those wins came just a few days ago when Santa Clara took down Stanford, 89-77, on the road.
