West Coast Conference Release

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Four Santa Clara men's soccer student-athletes were recognized with All-Academic honors by the West Coast Conference on Thursday.  Caden Buckley was named to the WCC All-Academic First Team while Joshua Dabora, Pierce Dyal and Damani Osei were named honorable mentions. 

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while participating in at least 50 percent of the completed contests and have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing with at least one year in residence completed at the nominating institution.

Buckley has a cumulative grade point average of 3.810 to earn one of the 11 spots on the All-Academic First Team.  This is his second WCC All-Academic recognition after being named honorable mention in 2022. 

A two-time team captain and a All-WCC First Team selection, Buckley started in all 16 games he appeared in this season.  He led the team with 1,351 minutes of action and tallied nine points on a career-high four goals and an assist.  In the season opener against No. 17 Georgetown, the junior forward scored a brace. 

Dabora has a 3.455 GPA while majoring in communication.  The senior forward started in all 16 games he appeared in and finished fourth on the team in goals (3) and points (7).  Dabora scored the WCC Co-Championship clinching goal against Pacific in the 88^th minute and earned the conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.  This is Dabora's second WCC All-Academic honor as he was named honorable mention in 2022. 

Dyal, a sophomore, has a 3.691 GPA.  He was one of two Broncos to play in all 17 games where he started in 16 of them.  Dyal logged 1,052 minutes of action and tallied a goal and an assist. 

Osei, a graduate student, with a 3.760 GPA in marketing started in all 15 games he appeared in.  He was second on the team with 1,350 minutes of playing time and was named All-WCC honorable mention defender. 

This is the first all-academic recognition for both Dyal and Osei.
