Men's Soccer & UC San Diego Go Back and Forth to Play to a Draw

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer and UC San Diego went back and forth and played to a 2-all draw on Thursday night.  Joshua Dabora and Jesse Anamoo each tallied a goal for the Broncos with the latter coming in the 72nd minute just 90 seconds after UC San Diego took a 2-1 lead.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • UC San Diego (1-4-2) took a 2-1 lead in the 71st minute on Inaki Iribarren's second goal of the game.  
  • Just 90 seconds later, in the 72nd minute, Anamoo headed in the equalizer off consecutive chipped passes from Jack Civitts and Dabora over the Tritons goalkeeper Nicholas Shor.
  • Dabora got the opening goal for the Broncos (1-4-1) in the 23rd minute when Adem Hamdaoua swung the ball in front of the goal that he was able to get his left foot on find the back of the net. 
  • Santa Clara took a 1-0 lead at the half holding a 6-1 advantage in shots. 
  • Iribarren leveled the match in the 53rd minute with his first goal of the match on assists by Alessandro Allen and Asa Gibson. 
NOTABLE NUMBERS:
  • 2: The goal was Dabora's second of the season and eighth as a Bronco.  Freshman Civitts recorded his second career assist. 
  • 1: Anamoo scored his first goal of the year and his fourth as a Bronco.  Hamdaoua tallied his first assist of the season.  
  • Freshman Martin Kwende Jr. started his first game at Santa Clara.
