No. 10 Women's Soccer Posts Gritty Come-From-Behind Win Over Gonzaga

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After falling behind early in the second half, No. 10 Santa Clara women's soccer rallied for a hard-earned 2-1 win over Gonzaga Sunday afternoon. After the tally by the Zags (7-7-2, 3-3-1 WCC), the Broncos (11-2-3, 5-0-2 WCC) came right back with the equalizer and then scored again late in the half to take the win.

  • Gonzaga's goal came in the 52nd minute on a shot from outside the box. Katelyn Rigg passe hit to Emilia Warta who hit her shot just under the cross bar.
  • A set piece in the 57th saw Santa Clara even things up. Sally Menti's corner found the head of Kat Jordan who hit it over the leaping keeper.
  • Menti scored the game-winner in the 79th. After a long run by Ava Weiland, she passed to Menti near the top of the box and after a couple touches, hit a lot shot inside the right post.
