DAVIS, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis who were off to their best spring season start since the 2015-16 season having won two of their first three matches, lost 6-1 to UC Davis on the road on Friday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The lone point by Santa Clara (2-2) came on singles court four when Velizara Fileva's opponent, Kaia Wolfe retired after the first set that briefly tied the team score at 1-all. 
• Otherwise, UC Davis (3-6) won the rest of the matches including all three doubles and five singles matches.
• The Broncos lost a pair of narrow matches in the third set super tiebreakers.
• Mika Ikemori clinched the match over Finley Kalinic 6-1, 6-3 on court two. 

• The Broncos hosts CSUN at the Degheri Tennis Center on Sunday at noon.
