SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's water polo team earned a split on day two of its own Bronco Invitational Saturday, defeating Austin College, 14-6, in the last game of the day after falling 18-4 against Marist in the morning at Sullivan Aquatic Center.

The Broncos (4-4) scored a season-high 14 goals in their win over the 'Roos (0-6). They jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first period and never looked back. It was the most goals Santa Clara has scored in a game since also scoring 14 on April 15 last season in an overtime road win at Cal State East Bay. Nine different Broncos scored goals Saturday.
Elle Fredrickson led all players with three.

Malaya Wright all scored one.

Liyara Senadheera earned the win in the net with 10 saves and a steal.
Haley Tassell also minded the net for Santa Clara, making six saves in the fourth period.

Ashley Chand and Alyssa Ross led the way for Austin College with two goals each.

Santa Clara scored in all four periods against the Red Foxes (10-10) during their first match of the day. Maccabe led the Broncos with two goals, while
Annika Burks and Clough added one each.

Marist scored at least three goals in all four periods en route to tallying at least 18 goals in a game for the sixth time this season. Ella Baumgarten led all players with four goals, while Kaylee Brard had three. Samantha Bentley, Rachel Dean, Makaelee Hansberger, Lauren Kwan and Emily Scheerer all had two each, and Callaghan Browne added one more.

Senadheera made four saves in goal for the Broncos. Marist 'keeper Sanchez made 17 stops.
