Box Score 2 CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Closing up the Harvard Invitational, the Santa Clara women's water polo team couldn't notch up a win. Despite their best efforts, the Broncos (4-9, 1-0) couldn't come out on top against No. 20 Harvard and Siena in day two.
Game one: #20 Harvard 13 - Santa Clara 4
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Harvard (7-5, 1-1) came out strong, scoring first. However, by the end of the first period, the Broncos found themselves trailing 1-3. Santa Clara ended the first half down 2-5.

In the third period, the Broncos fought back, netting two goals against Harvard's three. Unfortunately, that was where Santa Clara's scoring streak ended, as Harvard added four more goals. The final score against the nationally ranked opponent was 13-4.

Liyara Senadheera stood firm in goal, making 11 blocks and a steal. Meanwhile, Elle Fredrickson, Libby Slater, Maddie Clough, and Chloe Morrison each contributed one goal to the effort.
Game two: Siena 13, Santa Clara 9
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Santa Clara kicked off the match against Sienna (5-5) with a competitive first period. The Broncos managed to score three goals, but Siena responded with four of their own.

The second period proved challenging for the Broncos as Siena dominated with five unanswered goals, leaving the score at halftime 3-9.

Despite a spirited effort in the third period, with both teams netting four goals each, Santa Clara couldn't close the gap. The game concluded with a score of 13-9, just shy of a comeback.

Chloe Morrison led the scoring for Santa Clara with three goals, including one from an exclusion and one from a penalty. Evelyn McLaughlin, Fredrickson, Francesca Moynihan, Megan Chambliss, and Malaya Wright also contributed at least one goal each.

In goal, Senadheera started the game, while Haley Tassell made an appearance in the fourth period, recording one block.
