Legendary Bronco Baseball Coach John Oldham Passes Away

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Legendary Santa Clara baseball coach John Oldham has passed away at 91. Oldham coached the Broncos for 13 years that featured three West Coast Conference titles and four trips to the NCAA Tournament.
 
A four-time WCC Coach of the Year, Oldham led baseball program from 1985-1997 to 433 victories. His team won the WCC Championship in 1994, 1996, and 1997. In addition to trips to the NCAA Tournament those seasons, Santa Clara also went in 1988 under Oldham.
 
Five of Oldham's players went on to professional baseball, including Randy Winn '98 who was an MLB All-Star and was inducted into the Santa Clara Hall of Fame in 2016. During Oldham's tenure, five Broncos were named WCC Player of the Year and another 12 received All-American Awards for both athletic and academic feats.
 
Oldham played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1956 and was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
