SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Santa Clara took home the West Coast Conference Men's All-Sports Award as part of the End of they Year Awards handed out by the conference. In addition, the Broncos finished second in the Commissioner's Cup and the Women's All-Sports Award.
It is the third time Santa Clara has won the Men's All-Sports Award and the first since 2007. The Broncos finished third in the men's basketball standings and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, their first trip in 30 years. The men's tennis team was co-regular season conference champions and baseball made a late season surge to make the conference tournament.
After winning the Commissioner's Cup a year ago, the Broncos (102.23) finished just three points behind this year's winner Pepperdine (105.26) and 12 points ahead of third place Saint Mary's (90.33).
It was even closer on the women's side, with Santa Clara (61.30) trailing the Waves (63.30) by just two point and nine ahead of the Gaels (52.60).
