Challenging Contest Following Women's Water Polo Loss To Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara's women's water polo faced off against No. 6 Stanford (5-2) but came up short, with the Cardinals securing a 19-4 victory. Unfortunately, the Broncos concluded the Stanford Invitational unable to find a win.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Kate Rodman opened the game with the first goal, quickly answered by Stanford, who scored four goals in response. The second period concluded with the Broncos trailing 7-2, and Megan Chambliss notched her first goal of the weekend.

  • Stanford extended their lead in the third period by scoring eight goals, while the Broncos managed to add just one to their tally from Chloe Morrison. Putting the score to 3-15. 

  • In the last minute of play, Elle Fredrickson found the net, contributing to the Broncos' final score of 19-4.

  • Liyara Senadheera started in goal and secured nine saves. Midway through the match, Haley Tassell joined in, making three saves of her own. 

 

NEXT UP: Santa Clara hosts for the first time this season, facing Fresno Pacific at 1p.m.
