Adama-Alpha Bal Voted Second Team NABC All-District

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Santa Clara men's basketball junior guard Adama-Alpha Bal bas been named 2023-24 NABC Division I Second Team All-District following an outstanding debut season with the Broncos. The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.

Bal is the third Bronco to earn All-District honors over the last three seasons. Jalen Williams was also a second team selection in 2021-22 while Brandin Podziemski was a first team pick in 2022-23.

"Adama was outstanding this season and did a lot of really great things to contribute to our success," head coach Herb Sendek said. "He is a phenomenal scorer and made a lot of clutch shots throughout the year. He is also a really great teammate. Adama was one of the top players in our league this season and is very deserving of this All-District honor."

A product of Le Mans, France, Bal's first season at Santa Clara was certainly a memorable one. In 30 games, he ranked seventh in the WCC in scoring at 14.4 points per game with 21 double-figure scoring games, including nine 20-point efforts. A First Team All-WCC selection, he also finished ninth in the league with 3.1 assists.

Bal had a season-high 28 points on the road against Pepperdine and also posted 20-point outings to help the Broncos defeat Pac-12 opponents Oregon (25), Stanford (23) and Washington State (23). Perhaps his biggest moment of the season came on Jan. 11, when he scored 17 points, including the game-winning bucket inside the final seconds, to help the Broncos knock off No. 21 Gonzaga inside the Leavey Center.
